The LOT (Library of Things)

Let’s Try Something New at the Library!

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) recently awarded funding to the MetroShare Community of Libraries Consortium under its Regional ILS Cooperative grant program to provice educational and recreational kits at all MetroShare Libraries and are designed to enhance the lives of Library patrons.

There are kits for patrons of all ages.  The recreational kits range from an outdoor movie screen to a giant dice yard game, from hosting a podcast to playing pickleball.  Educational kits include learning to play the piano, coding basics with a Space Rover, and Playaway Launchpad pre-loaded tablets to learn Spanish, math, and more.  These kits are designed to give patrons the opportunity to try something new, without the commitment of purchasing their own equipment.
