Description
"The Fall of Gondolin centers on evil Morgoth, and his foe, Ulmo. At the heart of their power struggle is the hidden city of Gondolin, whose king, Turgon, is reviled by Morgoth. Guided unseen by Ulmo, the man Tuor sets out in search of Gondolin. There, he weds the king's daughter, with whom he has a son. As Morgoth attacks, Tuor and his family escape and Gondolin falls. Christopher Tolkien uses a 'history in sequence' mode in this edition. In the words of J. R. R. Tolkien, it was 'the first real story of this imaginary world,' and he counted it among the 'Great Tales' of the Elder Days"--Back cover.
